Vancouver has the largest film industry in Canada and is the 3rd most filmed city in North America.  During your average visit to Vancouver during the summer months you are sure to bump into a film shoot, normally small orange cones along the edge of the road as well as the more obvious convoy of parked trucks are tell tale signs that another piece of Vancouver is being captured onto film.
Attracting big film dollars is no hard task for Vancouver, there is an abundance of local talent from skilled technicians through to award winning actors and Vancouver itself lends as a perfect backdrop for just about any place on earth.  Need to look like San Francisco? Vancouver has the look.  And with the stunning beauty of British Columbia within driving distance, location scouts are spoiled for choice.

As well as big budget film, many major TV shows have been produced in and around Vancouver, including Stargate SG-1 and The X-Files.  Its not just American productions that see a gem of a location though, Canadians home grown shows such as the cop show Cold Case proudly shows of the city as it fights the fictional criminals.

If a film shoot is about to happen there will often be other more subtle warnings such as parking restrictions signs the day before.  Keep a watch out for these and you will be able to take a sneak behind the scenes peek as the production happens.
