Paolo Tosolini has produced a great tutorial on how to use the Google Maps and the Microsoft Virtual Earth programs. Google Maps is a free service and Virtual Earth can be purchased from Microsoft. Microsoft offers a free map program with fewer features called Maps Live, which is not covered in the tutorial. A native of Italy, Paolo uses Italy as an example to show how you can see tourist sights , businesses and more on these two powerful programs. Most interesting to me is the driving directions feature. You can get street-by-street directions to various cities with just a few clicks of the mouse. Paolo explains it all simply right on the screen with his great You Tube demonstration. He also writes a blog called Italy from the Inside, which is also worth a visit.
