The Strait of Georgia has freezing cold water on its one hundred and fifty miles long waterway. The strait primarily separates Vancouver Island from the main British island of British Columbia. The eastern shore of the Galliano Island looked like it was quite untouched by man.

The shore is covered with sandstones. There is curled and carved with centuries of storms and waves and above all is the spruce that provide fir and russet trunk arbutus trees that are usually responsible for covering a lot of this skinny island that is about nineteen miles long.  When you swim to the south of here, you will see this sheltered cove which has a pebble beach. These are usually protected by the wind and the pebbles that are warmed by the unrelenting rays of the midday sun.  This place happens to be quite famous for its ocher starfish. And the bull kelp is sometimes spotted floating over the surface.

Pebble beach is quite good. There is a mixed crowd of locals and foreigners and you could be hovering in thaw water and trying not to freeze.

Pebble Beach

The beach is actually a nudie beach , and you might find skinny dipping with strangers quite weird  and even a bit ouche, although for the first day tourist experience , it al looks surprisingly innocent. There is an atmosphere here that is quite open and friendly.  The locals here are known for their blackberry-blueberry pie.

The light here begins to just fade as the shadows settled on the crowd. You should probably follow the path through the woods that leads to the retreat Cove. Here you would find a secluded inlet where sailboats bob over freckled waters and the entire things looks a tinge of golden because of the gold of the sunlight.  Here you can get yourself a drink and enjoy the last rays of the day.  You could follow this by hiking on the main road and heading for the nearest bead and breakfast.

If you ever wonder, where you are, then you definitely are in the Gulf island, this is an archipelago which stretches up the Vancouver Island coast.  This place is connected by the most reliable and affordable ferries.  There are more convenient and easy escapes from the entire bustle of the Mainland Vancouver. All of these are priced by the Canadian for their beauty and farms and friendliness which are typical to cash poor artists and the many craftsmen.

Galliano has many low budget trips that take an open ended feeling/ apart fro all the skinny dipping, this is a place that is just out of time.

The cars here are in fact quite not required because a lot of people from the farms that go to restaurant the workers here get around by a short walk and almost everyone is just within reach of each other. There are about twelve hundred people here at any given time during the year.
