Roger Centre, originally known as SkyDome, was completed in 1989 and bluntly asserts itself. It is one of the few sports stadiums built downtown in a big city in recent years. This rounded white dome is home to Major League Baseball’s, Toronto Blue Jays, two time World Series champions. The stadium was the first in North America to sport a fully retractable roof, which takes 20 minutes to open or close.

The Rogers Centre, however, is a little more than just a sports stadium. It also features an on-site fitness club, a hotel that located within the stadium with rooms overlooking the field, and the American restaurant, Hard Rock Café.

Notable features of the Rogers Centre include the gigantic sculptures on the building’s exterior, designed and sculpted by Toronto’s most admired contemporary artist, Michael Snow. The stadium also features what was once the world’s largest scoreboard – a video screen measuring 33 x 110 feet. Be sure also to check out the Art of the Possible, a glass and steel sculpture at the concourse on Level 100. The sculpture is brightly-illuminated, which became controversial early on as the lights were a distraction to some batters.
