Portland which is located on the coast of Maine has come up with waves of Locavore restaurants, which have urban farms and many galleries that feature local artists.There are many brick warehouses that have been abandoned. These have been repurposed as boutiques that are eco friendly boutique.  In this main square, there is a nineteenth century building that has been redesigned into a farmers market. Here you will be able to find a sleepy little industrial town.

Let’s look at some of the things that you can do here.

Go down Congress Street and here you will find plenty of galleries, studious and cafes that have opened up in very recent years.  David marshal who is a painter is also a city councilman. David is one of artists here who exhibits his work at the constellation gallery. There is another similar exhibit, called Local sprouts.  This place has a community supported café.  Right down the street is the Public library. This library has renovated its gallery and it has also added another atrium.

The Locavore scene here in Portland has been blossoming over the recent years. This is shown by all the major food networks. The farmers table is one of the most famous ones here. This place is located on the commercial street. This place offers a nice terrace view of the entire harbor.  The chef here, Jeff Landry is also the owner of the place. He gets his vegetables at the gardens in the same area. This place serves dishes like beef ribs. The cows are also grass fed on a nearby farm.

The scratch baking company; is in South Portland which is known to be a suburb of bungalows and beaches. This place has a bakery which is located on Willard square; this place makes muffins, scones and sourdough bagels that are oven fresh.  It would be a good idea to visit them early in the morning as the bagels tend to get over quite fast. You can take a seat on Willard back. This is a place where the rocky, sandy parts of the beach meet beautiful views of the entire coastline.

Peaks Island is known for its free spirit. This is a part of the archipelago which surrounds Portland entirely. This thing is quite evident the moment you get off the ferry.  There is a bike rental place that is well housed in a dusty shack although this seems to be doing the job really well!

Maine Island is known for its gorgeous light houses and private beaches. This is also why the native have been unsuccessful in seceding from Portland a few years again.
