We spent our last few days touring in the beautiful Basque region of France. St. Jean de Luz has an amazing church Saint Jean-Baptiste in which Louis XIV was married.

We also visited the recreational seaside town of Hendaye, with a wide bay just made for surfing. And though the weather was chilly, the surfers were out in force wearing wet-suits.

We also visited the charming town of St Jean Pied de Port, a major stop along the pilgrim route of Saint Jacques de Compostelle. The ancient town is set by the river Nive, which has a lovely Roman bridge.

It was a wonderful trip and we hope to return soon. But we will give you a complete run-down of France’s basque Region when we return. Until then, a bientot!
