Provincetown is the center to book a whale watching trip. It’s almost a certainty that a whale will be sighted during a Cape Cod vacation and it will probably be a humpback, sei or finback whale. There are quite a few pretty towns and lovely spots on the island. Barnstable town and surrounding villages have scenic harbors and beaches. Hyannis village has a John F. Wellfleet is also worth a visit, particularly for Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, which organizes cruises, tours, bird walks and lectures. The local attraction, Uncle Tim’s Bridge is beloved of artists and photographers and has hiking trails round the salt marsh.
