The resort town of Banff in the Canadian Rockies is one of Canada’s most beautiful destination spots, and a fine place to stop on any trip through Alberta. At 1,463 meters, it has the highest elevation of any town in Canada, and the surrounding snow-capped mountains and gorgeous trails make the most out of any outdoor sporting activity, and the town has accordingly become a popular vacation spot for not only skiers and snowboarders, but bikers, hikers, and backpackers as well. The town offers many places to stay, shop, and eat for a vacation in any part of the year.
Banff: Great Destination in Any Season

Banff is the first and only incorporated town within a Canadian National Park, with a population of 8,721 the resort town is quiet and often friendly, with many improvements in recent years. A local bus system called Roam was recently opened in 2008 and has routes that link together the town, Tunnel Mountain, the Banff Springs Hotel, and the Banff Gondola. This has really opened up travel to the city and the surrounding areas, makin Banff more accessible than ever. The city also hosts an arts, cultural, and educational facility known as the Banff Centre that offers post-secondary education and professional career development.

Of course, no discussion of Banff would be complete without talking about the famous Banff hotsprings. In fact, the discovery of the hot springs is what spurred the development and creation of the resort! The 100 percent natural spring water draws many international visitors in summer or winter to lounge in its naturally heated waters and take in the spa that has grown up around the Upper Springs. They have an indoor cafe, outdoor snack bar, yoga, spacious changing rooms, and all sorts of other amenities to pamper vistors to the park’s first (and still most popular) attraction.
