Eastern State Penitentiary
The penitentiary’s exterior resembles a castle, and is therefore intimidating. The solitary confinement of each cell gives you a glimpse of skylight. In prior times, prisoners were hurled in one huge room. Hence, the prison serves as an example in social reform. The penitentiary was operational for 142 years. The cell that housed the famous Al Capone has been preserved. Children under the age of seven are prohibited from entry. The place holds the annual ‘Terror Behind the Walls’ during which it resembles a haunted house.
