Vaparala (or Veparala) is one of the major panchayat (group of villages) in the town or mandal of Mylavaram, which is itself a part of the geographic region of Rayalaseema in the Kadapa (or Cuddapah) district of the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. Most of the people in Vaparala are Telugu ethnic people and work as weavers.

Attractions
Vaparala’s main attraction is a local Telugu festival called “Jyothalu”, which takes place after the Hindu celebration “Badrapada Sudda Pournima” is completed.

The town is also home or near many temples, including the famous Madhavaraya temple in the Gandikota fort, which can be reached by boat. This is a historical site about 15 miles away from Vaparala. Gandikota has many ancient structures in varying degrees of decay. Besides the Madhavaraya temple, you’ll also find the ancient Raghunatha place of worship. Gandikota itself is believed to have been founded around 1100 AD and the hometown of the Telugu poet, Vemana whose numerous 15th century poems advocating for social reform still amaze modern scholars and admirers.

Along the way to Gandikota, the Agasthisvara Kona is another site about 12 miles away worth a stop. Much closer to Vaparala, less than a mile away, is the Mylavaram Dam and its impressive construction on the Mylavaram reservoir. The reservoir is one of many great picnic spots in and around Vaparala.
