The Getty center which is located in Brentwood, Los Angeles is on of the two johns Paul Getty museum sites.

The center has been opened in 1997. It is well known for its architecture and the views that it offers. The center building has the Getty research institute, the Getty conservation institute and the Getty foundation and ghetto trust offices. These offices own and operate the entire site.

The architecture of this place is off the charts; Richard Meier took the naturally occurring ridges and overplayed these with grids along both the axes. The grids define the structure and decide where the platforms of the buildings could be located.

The buildings are essentially made up of concrete, steel, travertine and aluminum.

There is a constant hum from the white noise that is very prominent throughout the facility and campus. The designs have always been the same although to prevent tourists from wading off into the pools; benches have been made along the perimeter.

There is circular glass that is used as a helipad in case there is an emergency and the south of the promontory is locked down by species of exotic planet and the famous cactus garden.

The museum has one thousand two hundred spaces available for parking and a seven storyed underground parking lies beneath the museum.  There is an automated three car tram that is pulled by cables. This takes passengers to the museum and back from them.

The Getty center is a one hundred and ten acre center which has six buildings. The place was built by the master architect Richard Meier.  The Getty center is a one billion dollar projects and it opened in 1997. This place is a modern acropolis that is perched on top of Santa Monica mountain ridge. in los Angeles California.

The Getty is been designed to house the major collection of the pre twentieth century art. This place has a library of about one million books on art, culture and history. The building structure looks like an art monument by itself just like a hilltop citadel. The whole thing is done with beautiful off-white travertine marble and glass.  The galleries depend heavily on lights and are interspersed with courtyards, fountains and walkways that connect. The view from the windows is spectacular. Robert Irwin has designed the outstanding gardens here. Irises from van gough and the five Cézannes. There is also a ‘still life with apples’. These are some of the most popular sites amongst the people who come here.

The museums main attractions include the remains from the speciality esoteric collections.  The art collection is quite varied. This place has art from the renaissance period to the impressionism period. The eighteenth century had mostly decorative European arts.

The restaurant here has a wraparound terrace which offers a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. Here you get Californian cuisine, Asian and Mediterranean cuisines are also big hits over here.

The food here is so scrumptious that it almost gets as much attention as the art does.

The popular café has a superb menu offering innovative dishes that have been made to tantalize your senses. You also get a simple menu from this restaurant at all times.

Along with art, food here at the Getty is also quite amazing and well known. The food and art here along with the ambience makes for the charming overall experience of the place.

Apart from these the Los Angeles museum of art Pasadena is small although I have an excellent collection. The Norton Simon museum  and of course the san merinos Huntington gardens an galleries make for the special way. the Getty has a sister museum which is the Getty villa in Malibu.

Getty Center Garden

This pompous home was commissioned for the expatriate American oil billionaire john Paul Getty. He is among the richest men of modern times.  This place was completed about two years before the death of this billionaire. Getty, although didn’t live in this house wanted to be buried here. And so it was.  Today the site is devoted to Greek and roman antiquities.
